Desktoop

Within the framework of Utrecht Manifest, Sybrandy was asked how the New Worklandscape might look like. Sybrandy focused on the question whether we can grow food crops in the workplace. Besides the four seasons outside the office, the workplace can offer a landscape for a fifth season. In this artificial season it is always light, dry, sunny and 20 degrees. It offers the ability to produce crops for consummation during lunchtime.

The office timetable is mixed with the farming calendar. Desktoop offers a place where work and growth come together. Working on the Desktoop, the employee is surrounded by crops. The drawers under the desk, which are redundant because of digitalization of documents, have been converted into a LED lightened greenhouse. The desk light is replaced by a grow lamp.
